Our History
Gorsley Goffs Primary School is a Voluntary Controlled School. The School was founded by Mr Edward Goff in 1832. Mr Goff was a wealthy businessman and devout Christian who created a trust for the propagation of the Christian Gospel. The Trust made payments towards the running costs of the school until the early years of last century. Since the 1930s the Local Authority has leased without charge the 'old' buildings and site from the Trust. The original denominational Church control was relinquished to the County Council Education Committee in 1944, but the original Goffs Charity Trust has the right to appoint three Governors to the School's Governing Body as set down in the Instrument of Government of School Governors 1989. Major extension and rebuilding was carried out in 1982, adding two classrooms, a hall, library, practical area, offices and cloakrooms. The resources and music room were added in 1993 and a further two classrooms and cloakrooms were completed in 1998. In the Summer of 2006 we completed a further extension, housing new cloakrooms for Rudhall and Wye Classes.
